“To me, the energy that moves the moon, guiding its cycles and influencing the tides, is akin to the energy I channel in my practice. This universal force, constant and dynamic, is the same essence that I harness to facilitate healing and balance in my clients.”

What is reiki?

Reiki is a holistic healing practice that channels universal life force energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Discovered in Japan in the early 20th century, Reiki (pronounced “ray-kee”) combines the words “rei,” meaning “universal,” and “ki,” meaning “life force energy.”  It is believed that Reiki was practiced over the centuries but the practice was never formalized as it was by Mikao Usui.

In a Reiki session, a practitioner uses light touch or works with their hands hovering above the recipient’s body to channel this vital energy. The energy flows to areas in need of balance, helping to release blockages, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

Reiki is based on the belief that our energy fields, or “auras,” can become disrupted due to stress, trauma, or negative emotions. By restoring balance to these energy fields, Reiki encourages the body’s own healing mechanisms and fosters a deep sense of peace and relaxation.

This practice is non-invasive and can be received by anyone, regardless of age or physical condition. It complements other forms of therapy and is often used to enhance overall well-being, improve sleep, and support personal growth.

Mikao Usui

Mikao Usui, the esteemed founder of Reiki, pioneered a transformative spiritual practice designed to support healing and balance on physical, emotional, and mental levels. Usui's development of Reiki introduced a holistic approach to wellness that emphasizes the flow of universal energy through the body to promote overall health and well-being. According to the inscription on his memorial stone, Usui dedicated his life to teaching this profound practice, reaching and empowering over 2,000 individuals during his lifetime. His legacy continues to inspire and guide those seeking healing and personal growth through the gentle yet powerful art of Reiki.

I believe that the energy I work with in Reiki mirrors the vast, interconnected energy of the cosmos. From the smallest particle to the grandest galaxy, this energy is everywhere and in constant motion. Through my practice, I tap into this cosmic flow to help you harmonize with your own inner universe, fostering a sense of peace and well-being.

Just as the cycles of nature bring about change and renewal, my practice aims to restore balance and support your own journey toward wholeness. By working with these natural energies, I help you rediscover your own inner equilibrium and a renewed sense of balance.

FAQs

How does a Reiki session work?

During a Reiki session, you will typically lie down while the practitioner gently places their hands on predetermined or intuitively perceived positions on or near your body. The practitioner channels energy to areas that need healing, helping to restore balance and encourage relaxation. Distance Reiki is done remotely utilizing a symbolic object for the clients body, such as a pillow.  All the same hand positions are used and the session can be scheduled to be sent at any time when the client is relaxing or asleep.

What can I expect during a Reiki session?

You can expect to feel deeply relaxed and at ease during a Reiki session. Some people experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a gentle pulsing of energy. Each person’s experience is unique, and experiences may vary.

Can Reiki be used alongside medical treatments?

Absolutely. Reiki can be used alongside conventional medical treatments and therapies. It is not meant to replace medical care but rather to support and enhance the overall healing process.

How will I feel after a Reiki session?

After a Reiki session, many people feel a deep sense of relaxation, clarity, and emotional release. Some may experience a temporary increase in energy or a heightened sense of well-being. Each person's response may vary.

How long is a Reiki session?

A typical in-person Reiki session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. This allows sufficient time for the practitioner to work through different areas of the body and address specific concerns or needs.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people feel significant benefits after just one session, while others may choose to schedule regular sessions to maintain balance and support ongoing well-being. Based on my experience, it seems that three sessions are a good number to begin with - the first to acclimate the mind and body, the second to reach a state of receptivity and integration and the third to experience the full effects.

How should I prepare for a Reiki session?

There is no special preparation required for a Reiki session. However, it is helpful to come with an open mind and a willingness to relax and receive. Drinking water before and after your session can also support the energy-clearing process.

Can children or pets benefit from Reiki?

Yes, Reiki can be beneficial for children and pets. It is a gentle and non-invasive practice that can help promote relaxation and balance in both children and animals.

Can I get "bad energy" energy from Reiki?

No! Reiki is pure, clean, natural universal energy. It comes from Nature and is completely benign. The practitioner does not "take on" any energy from clients, places or things to "clear it."  In fact the practitioner is protected from negative energy (as is the client) and is solely a conduit for positive universal energy.
